Key insights

About DUT

The Driving Urban Transitions Partnership started in 2022. It is a public–public partnership co-funded under Horizon Europe that builds on JPI Urban Europe, with the vision of "a climate neutral and resilient urban future for all". It funds research and innovation through three Transition Pathways: Positive Energy Districts (local energy systems, efficiency, flexibility and renewables), the 15-minute City (daily needs within a short walk or cycle) and Circular Urban Economies (regenerative urban places and resource loops). The 2024 call received 254 applications, invited 110 to the second stage and suggested 47 projects for about 57 million euro; the 2025 call had about 44 million euro available.

Ask the portfolio

Find the projects and actors behind a question

Combine free text with filters, then click a project row to see its partners, DUT keywords and abstract. Free text searches titles, abstracts, keywords, topics, partner names and countries. Example questions are set up as presets. The first card is a mockup of a chatbot for free questions.

Mockup · Ask in your own words

Hi! Ask me about DUT's projects and partners, in English or Swedish. I only search DUT's project database: themes, countries, calls, pathways and types of organisation.

Search projects and organisations

Find participants

Who should be in the room?

Pick one or more DUT keywords for a session, workshop or event. Projects are ranked by how many of the chosen keywords they carry, and the organisations behind them by how many matching projects they take part in. You can also type your own words, separated by commas; they are searched in titles, abstracts, keywords and topics. In this version the themes are DUT's fixed keywords (recorded from the 2023 call onwards) rather than the AI policy classification of the reference dashboard — see Reporting and data. Contact persons are not in this dashboard.

Themes (DUT fixed keywords)

Calls

How have the calls developed?

Funded projects and requested funding per call, by Transition Pathway.

Projects per call

Requested funding per call, M€

Calls in figures

Dropouts are partner rows marked as dropout in the source file, including the three projects where all partners dropped out. Requested funding for the 2023 call is the national requested grant; total costs for 2024 are the recorded total budget.

Pathways and themes

What do the projects work on?

Each project's pathway is taken from its topic. Themes are DUT's own fixed keywords, recorded from the 2023 call onwards.

Countries per pathway

Number of projects with at least one partner from the country, top 20 countries.

Themes across project generations

Projects tagged with each DUT fixed keyword in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 calls, 30 most used. Click a theme to search it in Ask the portfolio. The 2022 call has no keywords recorded.

Call topics

Projects with several topics are counted under the first parsed topic code. Topic numbering differs between calls.

Countries

Where do the partners come from?

Participations per country (top 20)

All countries

Private sector

How much does the private sector take part?

Businesses are SMEs and large enterprises as recorded by the applicants. Other actor groups are shown for comparison.

Actor groups per call

Actor groups per pathway

Business share by country

Share of the country's participations that are businesses, countries with at least 20 participations.

Most engaged businesses

Businesses in two or more projects.

Cities

Where are the cities, and which countries involve them best?

Cities are partners recorded as city or urban public authorities, counted by town. The map shows places with at least one located partner; the bubbles show the number of projects at each place. Drag to pan; zoom with the buttons. Hover a bubble to see the place; click it for the projects there.

Cities Mission cityOther city or authority

Projects with a city from the same country

Share of the projects a country takes part in that include one of its own cities or urban authorities, countries in at least 10 projects.

Actors and network

Who takes part, and who works together?

Actor types

Participations as beneficiary (funded) or third party (taking part without DUT funding).

Actor types per pathway

Consortium size

Projects by number of active partners.

Repeat participation

Organisations by number of projects.

The core network

Organisations in three or more projects that share at least two projects with another of them. Circle size shows projects, colour shows actor group. Drag nodes or pan the canvas; scroll or use the buttons to zoom. Hover for details, click to list the organisation's projects.

Recurring constellations

Pairs of organisations that appear together in three or more projects.

Country collaboration

Projects shared by each pair of the 15 largest countries (participations).

Funders and gaps

Which funders reach which actors?

Participations with a recorded funding agency, by actor type. Empty cells show where a funder has no participations of that type in the portfolio; that can mean national rules exclude the type, or only that no such applicant was funded. Third parties take part without DUT funding.

Version history

Suggest an improvement

What should the dashboard do next?

Propose a new function, a correction or a change. This dashboard is a static page without a server, so suggestions are either sent by e-mail or saved in this browser; a live version would submit them to DUT staff and log them as requests.

Saved in this browser

Saving stores the suggestion only in this browser (localStorage), so it survives a page reload but is not shared with others or with DUT staff. Use the e-mail button or the CSV export to move it. To collect suggestions from all visitors centrally, a later version can connect this form to a form service or the DUT backend.
